Help collect data, and learn about the importance of darkness
We would very much like to collaborate with teachers in South Zealand, Lolland, Falster and Møn, and initiate joint projects where teachers and students are invited to Møn, are equipped with measuring devices and learn to use them, learn about light pollution and biodiversity, go home and investigate , and reports back with measurements and examples of unnecessary lighting.
Together we can find places where improvements can be made, and turn to e.g. companies with poor shielding from light, and explain what they can do better. If they make improvements, they can be rewarded with a certificate.
It might give a good experience of being able to make signnificant changes by researching something and factually arguing for changes.
Another purpose is also to provide examples of practical use of STEM teaching, in an informal learning environment.
It is interesting to investigate whether the work of carrying out scientific studies can be distributed to children, young people and their families. That knowledge can be used by many others.
We would also very much like to get a more detailed mapping of light pollution in the region, and hopefully slow down the development that is underway, which means that the amount of light pollution increases by around 8% annually.
We would very much like to hear from you if you are interested in collaborating. Contact us to find out how you can be involved in one of our upcoming projects.
